Md Kamrul Hasan Receives Travel Grant for IEEE BHI 2018

PhD student Md Kamrul Hasan has received a Graduate Research Travel Award to cover expenses to present two posters at the IEEE Biomedical and Health Informatics conference, to be held in Las Vegas, March 3-8,2018.

Hasan’s research work, “NICE HELP: Non-Invasive Computational Evolution (NICE) for Hemoglobin Level Prediction (HELP)” will be presented as a poster. His work on “ProPar HELP: Programming in Parallel (ProPar) for Hemoglobin Level Prediction (HELP) in the Cloud” will also be presented as a poster at the conference.

Md Kamrul Hasan is a 2018-19 Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellow

kamrulPhD student and Ubicomp Lab member Md Kamrul Hasan has been awarded a 2018-19 Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellowship. The fellowship comes with a 10 month stipend and tuition scholarship. Candidates must be admitted to a doctoral program at the time of nomination; must have a record of demonstrated leadership and a strong record of scholarship, and; must demonstrate personal character aligned with the university’s mission values of Excellence, Faith, Leadership, and Service.

Arthur J. Schmitt was an industrial executive who expressed his commitment to education, and the development of responsible leadership through Christian principles and ideals. He founded the Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation in 1941, dedicating its resources toward fashioning a better and more humane world.

Kamrul was a great candidate for the award. “Receiving the Schmitt Fellowship has helped me to affirm my goals as a PhD student and researcher in mobile health technologies,” he says. “I look forward to serving as a fellow and continuing to develop new venues for leadership at Marquette University not just for myself, but also for others that I work with. There are so many opportunities for us to make the world a better place…for me, it is through building healthcare tools that assist medical professionals and their patients to ease the burden on diagnosis and treatment of diseases and chronic conditions.”
